On July 17, 2021, Shanghai Astronomy Museum – the largest
astronomy museum around the globe – opened, and soon became the main focus of
the world. From the numerous media reports, two major customized exhibitions
always come into view, which are the multi-media show “History of the Earth”
and the interactive passage “Interstellar”.
Among them, “History of the Earth” is a massive Earth with the
diameter of 20 meters. A 4-minute 3D mapping projected film is played on the
front of the sphere, which informs about the historical changes of the Earth,
while the back of the sphere illustrates the beautiful night view of the Earth,
formed by fiber-optic lights and color paintings. Approach this exhibition as
if you are entering the vast space of the universe. This gigantic Earth sets
just before your eyes, and it will certainly be an unforgettable audio-visual
experience at the time you caught a first glimpse at it.
